A Call to Protect Our Senior Citizens

Our senior citizens, due to the fragility that comes with age, often seek the assistance of the government to access services and secure necessary documents.
These services, especially those declared as FREE, are meant to ease their burdens not add to them.

It is deeply concerning to learn that some government workers take advantage of their vulnerability by asking for payment for documents that should be provided at no cost. Such actions are not only unethical but also a direct violation of the trust placed in public service.

I want to make it clear , I'm not accusing anyone, but I wish to remind our beloved officials that some of their workers may be giving them a bad reputation through such practices.

One day, we will all grow old. How we treat our elders today will be the measure of how we hope to be treated tomorrow.

I will continue to watch and speak out against any abuse or exploitation of our elders. Public service is a duty, not an opportunity to take advantage of those in need.

Let us ensure that our senior citizens are treated with the dignity, compassion, and fairness they rightfully deserve.

Last night, while traveling from Jordan Wharf to Alibhon, I couldn’t help but notice something that made my journey feel a little more secure, a little more peaceful the street lights.

It may seem simple to some, but to me, it was something special. The road, which I’ve traveled many times before, now felt safer and more inviting. The glow of the lights lining the streets made the whole stretch easier to navigate, especially for commuters, drivers, and even those just walking home. It gave off a sense of order, care, and security.

What struck me most was not just how well-lit the area was, but how comforting it felt. It reminded me how important these little things are how lighting up a road can light up a whole community. Suddenly, that once-dark stretch turned into a welcoming path for everyone. No second-guessing what’s ahead. No unnecessary fear of what’s lurking in the shadows. Just the simple joy of moving freely and confidently.

It got me thinking about our own barangay.

I couldn’t help but wish the same for our streets. How nice would it be to have that kind of lighting in our own area? It would make such a big difference for our safety, for our comfort, and for the pride we feel walking around our neighborhood at night. A well-lit barangay reflects a community that’s looked after, cared for, and prioritized.

I hope someday soon, we’ll see those lights here too. I hope that one day, our own streets will glow with the same warmth and security that I experienced on that short trip. We deserve that too a barangay that shines not just with light, but with care.

Until then, I’ll keep hoping. And maybe, one post at a time, we can be heard.
