At AI Fest 2025, Ms. Jeara Michaela Muyong, CEO of AgriSensei and a WVSU BINHI TBI startup founder, highlighted a critical challenge in Philippine agriculture: 2.2 million hectares of farmland suffer from poor soil fertility. Many farmers lack access to real-time soil health data and often rely on guesswork for crop and fertilizer decisions. Without insights into essential indicators like pH, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels, they risk wasting resources, degrading soil quality, and facing declining yields.

AgriSensei’s smart soil monitoring system, powered by sensors and AI, delivers real-time soil data, personalized crop and fertilizer recommendations, and sustainable farming practices. This empowers farmers to improve yields, reduce costs, and protect their land for future generations.

Nineteen million Filipinos aged 10 to 64 are functionally illiterate—they can read, but not fully comprehend, according to PSA 2025.

Each year, 200,000 graduates enter the workforce without GDS skills in an industry of 6.75 million Filipinos. Most students complete their degrees without hands-on experience using Global Distribution Systems (GDS), resulting in missed job opportunities and a persistent skills gap.
