The Iwag Festival, Pototanβs beloved Festival of Lights, continues to shine as a vibrant symbol of Christmas joy and community spirit. From December 16 to January 1, the town transforms into a luminous wonderland where thousands gather to experience dazzling displays of lights, festive decorations, and heartfelt celebrations. The word βIwagβ a Kinaray-a term for light or illumination perfectly captures the heart of this festive tradition that has grown in popularity since it began in 1997, earning Pototan the title βChristmas Capital of Western Visayas.β οΏΌ
More than a visual spectacle, the Iwag Festival reflects the values we hold dear unity, creativity, and the spirit of giving. It brings together families, friends, and visitors of all ages to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the true light of the world, and to strengthen the bonds that make our community unique and resilient. οΏΌ
We thank everyone local organizers, volunteers, lighting designers, performers, vendors, and visitors for making the Festival of Lights a shining example of Pototanβs hospitality, culture, and joy. May the brilliance of the lights remind us of hope, love, and the brightness that each of us can bring into the lives of others. β¨
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Mabuhay ang Iwag Festival!
Together, letβs make Iwag Festival 2026 more meaningful, more colorful, and more unforgettable.
