Who remembers MagTV Na?
For many Cebuanos who grew up in the 2000s and 2010s, Sunday mornings just aren’t the same anymore.
"Mag TV Na!" was the Cebuano edition of a regional magazine show produced by the ABS-CBN Regional Network Group. Its name is a charming blend of English and Cebuano, playfully inviting viewers to "Mag TV Na!" —or "Let's watch TV now!"
Airing every Sunday on ABS-CBN Cebu (TV-3) , the show reached far beyond Cebu, capturing the hearts of viewers across the Visayas and Mindanao via relay stations in areas like Dumaguete, Bohol, and Tacloban. For a remarkable decade—from April 6, 2008, to June 24, 2018—it earned its place as the beloved "Sunday morning barkada" (friend) of Cebuano households.
Over its ten-year run, "Mag TV Na!" was brought to life by a roster of talented local personalities who became household names. Viewers didn’t just watch them; they grew up with them. The final hosts who gracefully bid the show goodbye were:
Borgie Cabigas
Reena Malinao-Tan
Jonathan Cimafranca
They were joined in the emotional finale by beloved former hosts Inday Tikay and Phoebe Fernandez. Other notable hosts who became part of the "Mag TV Na!" family throughout the years included Charlene Go, Genesis Nacua, Blinky De Leon, Erwin Lim, Mc Billy Sy, and Dan Harry Genson.
When the show aired its final episode on June 24, 2018, the farewell was heartfelt. The announcement on its official page, written in Cebuano, perfectly captured the bittersweet moment:
"Mga Kamags, sud sa napulo ka tuig, kita ang nag uban, ubay-ubay na ang nasaw-an. Katawa, luha ug inspirasyon, kami kanunay'ng mapasalamaton. Apan, ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END, ang inyong Sunday morning barkada, temporaryo'ng manamilit sa kahanginan."
Though it has been off the air for years, "Mag TV Na!" remains a cherished memory—a reminder of a time when local television felt intimate, community-driven, and truly close to home.
