π Omagieca Obo-ob Mangrove Garden β Bantayan Island, Cebu
ποΈ August 27, 2025
There is a distinct stillness to a place before the crowds arrive. Catching the morning light at the Omagieca - Oboob, the only sound you really hear is your own footsteps along the bamboo boardwalk. ππ
Most people recognize this as the filming location of the 2016 movie Camp Sawi. Beyond the pop culture reference, walking through the one-way bridge route gives you a close-up look at a thriving ecosystem. We happened to catch it at low tide, which revealed the intricate root systems that quietly protect the coastline. π¬
The local guides emphasize how crucial these protected mangroves are acting as a natural barrier that buffers the shore against strong waves, storm surges, and coastal flooding. Itβs a gentle reminder that some of the most beautiful places we visit are also the most vital. π‘οΈπ
π£ Activities: Kayaking and boating are available (best experienced during high tide)
π½οΈ Amenities: On-site restaurant inside, plus multiple souvenir and food stalls outside
π‘ Tips: Arrive early in the morning to enjoy the boardwalk without the crowds. Signal can be very weak or non-existent inside the eco-park, so plan your communications accordingly and this is arguably the best spot in Bantayan to buy dried fish (bulad). Itβs significantly cheaper here compared to the mainland markets
Whether you're looking for the iconic "Camp Sawi" and "Camp Wagi" signs or just want an unhurried walk through nature, itβs a stop thatβs well worth adding to the itinerary. πΈ
