She wanted to teach him how hard real life can be.

When her 17-year-old son said school felt meaningless, his mother, a street vendor, decided to show him what work actually looks like. She helped him set up a small snack stall, hoping the experience would push him back toward education.

Instead, something unexpected happened.

In just ten days, he earned about 1,400 USD. The routine stuck. Early mornings prepping food, long days on his feet, cycling more than 13 kilometers at night to sell. He decided to leave school and do it full time, with dreams of saving enough for a better cart.

His mother did not plan for that outcome. She has tried to talk him into returning to school. But she also understands that at 17, he already has his own way of thinking.

For her, the priority is not forcing a path. It is making sure her son stays healthy, safe, and out of trouble, while she continues to guide him as best she can.

Sometimes lessons do not land the way parents expect. And sometimes love means adjusting to the path a child chooses, even when it is not the one you imagined.
