I believe this is a White-bellied Sea Eagle I photographed along the Aramia River in the Delta Fly District, Western Province.

I spotted it soaring alongside a New Guinea Eagle before it perched high on a treetop overlooking the river.

I only had my 70–200mm on this trip (how I wished the 600mm was in the bag! Rocky Roe would have said I told you so), but paired with the Nikon Z9, it delivered. The Z9’s bird autofocus locked on beautifully and allowed me to capture this moment. 🦅

Being on stage as Akon performed in Port Moresby for Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Anniversary 🇵🇬 is surreal.
