LAIA TAKES NEXT STEP ON AUSTRALIAN SOIL
Papua New Guinea's 🇵🇬 Fidelis Laia only recently made his professional debut on a fully international boxing card in Vietnam.

The "Bougainville Bomber Fedelis Laia is looking forward to fight in Australia next month. 💪

LAIA TAKES NEXT STEP ON AUSTRALIAN SOIL
Papua New Guinea's 🇵🇬 Fidelis Laia only recently made his professional debut on a fully international boxing card in Vietnam.

The "Bougainville Bomber" impressed despite dropping a points decision and immediately vowed to return to the ring a vastly improved fighter. True to his word, he hasn't wasted any time.

Next month, Laia heads to Surfers Paradise, Queensland, where he will take on underrated Australian Jesse Travers.

Travers enjoyed an accomplished amateur career and has long been regarded as a fighter with plenty of ability, having shared the ring in highly competitive contests with quality opponents such as Clay Waterman and Steve Spark.
After stepping away from the sport for seven years, Travers made an emphatic return in April, stopping Blake Payne in the opening round.
He will now be looking to build on that performance against the visiting Papua New Guinean.

Laia is undaunted by the challenge.

"It's a great opportunity for me to take the next step in my career," said Laia.
"I will move up in weight to fight this Australian, but that's okay because I've competed at that weight before.
"I'm confident of winning, and then I have another fight scheduled in the Philippines 🇵🇭 in August.

"I know I started my professional career later than most, so I have to appreciate and take every opportunity that comes my way."
