Ashurst Dance Sunday 16th August
What a fabulous way to spend a damp and cold Sunday afternoon. Dancing to the lifting music from Saltire, thanks Sharlene, Mary and Glenys, enjoying a great programme and a stupendous afternoon tea. What a desert table - such decadent choices. Not sure we did it justice.

Waikanae's Annual Dance - Saturday afternoon 8 August.
Waikanae have shifted their annual dance to the afternoon this year.

There was a lovely vibe this afternoon as dancers from the Wellington Region, Levin, and Palmerston North joined us for a few hours dancing.
With music from Jason Morris and Hilary Ferral the programme flew by.
The club excelled themselves with a sumptuous afternoon tea. Thank you all. So much so that dancers were able to have a nibble or take a travel pack as they left.

Until we do this again next year - a few pictures from today - Kelso Races and Mairi's Wedding.

Upper Hutt's Dance Saturday 1 August
Thanks to the Club for a great night of dancing on a very cold and damp day.
The band of Keshev, Heather and Sam kept us on our toes.
The Clubs hospitality with a shared 'light' meal before starting with a supper mid evening is legendary.
The heat pump was welcome on such a cold night.
Thanks Chris for a great programme.

Levin 70th year Anniversary Dance and Dinner - 18th July 2026
What a wonderful afternoons dancing. It was lovely to see so many from the Kapiti Coast, Rangitikei Hawkes Bay Region and Wellington support Levin for this event.
Melva and Isobel shared the MC'ing with Saltire providing the Music to keep us on our toes.
The club provided a sumptuous afternoon tea.
What a venue Speldhurst Village Hall is and a number of village residents came to watch. The bonus is the location of the George Cafe - about 600m from the hall that hosted a dinner afterwards. No-one left hungry that is for sure.
What a relaxing winddown from the dance and a chance to chat with old friends.

The magnificent tribute played at the Salon de Musique Eccosais

"Dougie" - A tribute to Doug Pearce (1943-2024) composed by his son-in-law David South.
David had given me these words.

Doug was a keen Scottish Country Dancer, long time volunteer fire fighter (55 years) and a jazz music fan. Doug and David were close and this tune came to David the day after Doug passed. Composed in the style of a Celtic air, references to one of Doug's favourite jazz tracks - "When the Saints Go Marching In" by Louis Armstrong appear throughout the tune and the title is how his fire fighting mates (and many others) referred to him.

I'll post this on the you tube channel as well. There will be a delay as I updated my security and have a weeks wait.

It was kind of Melbourne City to host their Tartan Parade on the Sunday afternoon the school ended.
Just a few photos. Despite the crowds I managed to find myself next to Helen Smythe as we walked down Collins Street.
The Guinness record for the most women pipers playing together was at the close of the parade. An amazing sound but difficult to see with the dense crowd.

Final night
What a wonderful ball, fabulous atmosphere and programme. The body (and brain) tiredness from a week of classes and dancing melted as the band lifted spirits and the body to dance the night away.

A grand march, a unique warmup after a sumptuous supper - watch the video below and Auld Lang Syne to close.

Farewell Melbourne, now looking forward to Sydney in 2028
