Well life on the farm has been pretty un eventful lately…
Winters kicked in quick and harsh 🥴 basically causing all the grass to stop growing 🤦🏼♀️❄️🥶 which is not fun when your trying to get through till the end of may for dry off 😅
🐄 Cows have already hit last years production so we will have a nice new farm record this year, sadly it wont be as much of a record as we hoped the lovely cold snaps have hit at all the wrong times causing production drops but thats farming and ill still be happy with what we do. Cows are now happily on once a day milking🥛
Winter kale crops have been weighed (19t and a 15t crop), 3 of the new grass paddocks are up and growing well and we are holding hope the last paddock kicks in soon and grows if the weather starts being kind 🤞🏻☘️🌱
We have a couple of new red girls joining the herd this weekend and two of our girls move on up north to good friends of ours where they will join our good cow azzy, our system here doesn’t suit their type so im excited to see what they can do on a feed system more suited to their type and we are super excited to be welcoming 1 of our big red cow rosys et sisters to the herd 🧡
Right now the main focus on the farm is to “get through” , cows to slow down production, cows to just get fat and setting up for the extremely fast approaching new season also should catch up on the never ending paperwork and plan a small family break away for winter 🤞🏻💻📚
