Like me, you know how precious photos become to wider family members. Storing them and finding them is important. The Pearl Sidwell Photo Organiser Facebook Community is for people who find the process of sorting, organising and scanning of family photos ... daunting, overwhelming. STAY WITH ME. This community is set up to support people who have a NEED to get the photos sorted for their family. T

his is a supportive Facebook community for people who WANT to be able to FIND and SHARE their photos with others

I will hold events for people to get together online, share tips on how to get the jobs done efficiently. Join us for a little encouragement. In 2016 I organised for someone to scan most of my pre-digital photos. It was at considerable cost. It was time consuming for him. I've never regretted giving the job to someone else to do. The cost was worth it. I now access all my old family photos on Dropbox Files on my phone, iPad or a computer on wifi. I've learned over the years how to sort and store my photos. (I will not grab my photos if there is a house fire. I have too many. I would perish). I enjoy listening to people tell their stories through photos. I enjoy history and helping people share their stories creatively. Aside from establishing the Pearl Sidwell Photo Organising FB community, I am starting my 2022 side hustle and offering my services to 10 clients per year who want my help. I will come in person over multiple sessions if necessary. I can be commissioned to work with parents or extended family. Private message me to book a free introduction with me by phone or online. I love listening to people's stories. I'll help them sort through their family photos. I'll help them name important old photos then prepare the photos to be scanned. I promise to be confidential, respectful and helpful!

I sent my family members copies of our great great grandparents' Wedding and Death certificates recently. I discovered in reading closely that my grandfather and great grandfather had the same and very similar middle names. William Albert and William Arthur. That could be confusing. I also read who was present at the deaths of my great great grandparents and that my grandfather's father died at 44 years of a heart attack. His son lived into his 70's as did my Dad. Snippets of family information I can share because of my commitment through ScanMyGran to sort, organise, scan, digitalise and share. If you want help to do the same. Let me know.

Sunday Tip to preserve your family heritage photos.
Do you Back Up your computor regularly? Our automated system means that a recent burglary of computers and hard drives didn't wipe out access to all of our digital photos and family movies.
If you don't know how to do this, ask.

Weekly Tip to preserve your family heritage photos.
In the words of Frank Sinatra "Regrets, I've had a few". Don't leave it too late to visit elderly relatives who have photos of your ancestors.
Call or contact an elderly aunty, uncle, grandparent. Ask them if they have photos of your ancestors. Focus on those you descend from first. Ask if they can scan and send you photos. If you live nearby, head over with some biscuits and time for some family stories
If they live at distance, send someone around to photograph or scan the photos on your behalf.

3 tips for organising your Pre-Digital photos. Pearl's Tips for Today: 1) Decide to Digitally Scan valued photos, pictures, articles, cards, children's artwork, paintings 2) Prepare to sort. Organise all albums, framed photos, packets of photos, loose photos into one sorting area. 3) Use sorting boxes to quickly file photos by chosen categories e.g.. You and partner, each child, parents, siblings, grandparents and elders, friends, work, etc.
