📸 ŌPSI CLUB FIELD TRIP: Carter’s Sawmill — "Derelict" 📸

Join us as we head out to explore Carter’s Sawmill on the Wairoa River (end of Wairoa Rd) for this month's theme: DERELICT.

Old machinery, weathered timber, rusted iron, and forgotten structures — this spot is packed with textures and stories waiting to be captured. Bring your eye for where time stands still and let's make the most of the morning light!

🗓️ Saturday, 1st August
⏰ 9:00am – 11:00am
📍 Carter’s Sawmill, end of Wairoa Rd (by the Wairoa River)

All skill levels welcome. Bring your camera, a sense of adventure, and maybe some sturdy shoes — the ground can be uneven around the old mill site.

Will be running poll to confirm numbers or email us at [email protected]
Car pooling will be available. Will meet at Mill 9:00am - see you there! 🧡

Congratulations to the Omokoroa Solstice swimmers!

It may have been cloudy and wet but it was incredible to see the local community taking part in the annual Solstice Swim organised by Russell Oliver, sponsored by the Lizard and supported by the Lions Club and Archie’s Bar.

With the water temperature around 14c the team from the Omokoroa Photography Society Liz Meyer, Margaret Smith and Steve Brown (drone operator) were quite content being on camera duty!

Here’s a few shots from the day and amazing drone coverage.

🏆WANTED: TROPHY SPONSORS!🌟

Support our community group and leave a lasting legacy

The Omokoroa Photographic Society Inc. (ŌPSI) are looking for local businesses or individuals who would like to give back to the community through a small, one-off investment.

Your contribution will permanently name you as the donor and sponsor of one of our annual trophies, recognising local talent and achievement for many years to come.

Two trophy sponsorship opportunities are available:
• Image of the Year
• Most Improved Photographer

A third and final trophy, the Creativity Award, has already been very appropriately sponsored by the king of creativity, Black Diamond Photography. Thank you for your support!

This is a meaningful way to support local talent, celebrate success, and have your name proudly associated with an annual community award.

Please get in touch for more information or if you'd like to sponsor one of these special trophies.
