This Tucker list from a 1999 Fiordland trip had everything accounted for.

A little snapshot of what went into planning an adventure back then and the importance of his wife Valmai!

John Breen has spent a good chunk of his life putting stories onto paper.

From his own adventures, to the people he’s met along the way, to the history of New Zealand’s wild places!

It was pretty special hearing about the stories behind the books during our chat.

John Breen has spent a lifetime building.

Buildings, businesses, hunting camps, radio masts, stories and a reputation forged through hard work in the deep south of New Zealand.

At 83, his world is a little smaller now, tomatoes in the garden, tea at the kitchen table and another book slowly taking shape.

But the stories are big.
