If you know me, you'll know how much I love a good sunset or sunrise. I keep telling people about how magical New Zealand sunsets are. Many Kiwis I talk to might take them for granted, but coming from the north east of England, even a partially cloudy sky would have us celebrating with a pint at the local beer garden.
Having lived in Christchurch for nearly a year now, I’m still captivated by the sky’s transformation. Watching it shift from golden orange to pink as the sun sets over the distant Alps, then transitioning into the blue hour and finally seeing the Milky Way unfold overhead is truly breathtaking.
This photograph was taken a couple of months ago with my DJI Mavic 3 drone after a family photoshoot in the Port Hills. As the sun dipped below the ridge, I seized the moment to get my drone up and capture this panorama. It’s a composite of 60 photos merged into one stunning image.
The DJI Mavic 3 is fantastic for landscape photography. Its Hasselblad cameras are perfect for wide scenic views and detailed shots, with a 7x zoom capability for capturing intricate details. Combined with its long battery life and ability to handle strong winds in the Port Hills, it’s a top choice for these moments.
