Indifference is the biggest disaster hitting Moria, and the bigger indifferences around the world, thinking about refugees and people living in crowded conditions with no chance to keep distant. And thinking about all these billions of euros that need to save our economy. Can we invest them in a cure against our indifference?

Abandoned or occupied garden chair?

I took this picture a while ago already, the end of the first week schools were closed. Since Monday I barely left the house, I had a very mild cough, so stayed home. Yesterday I went for a run again, made it a few km’s from home. This picture was taken 50 meters from my house. Looking at this chair I can’t decide wether it looks abandoned, now we are inside our homes, or placed there specifically in order to be able to leave home, if only in our small front yards to catch some fresh air. Or maybe to receive a guest?

“Ik kan er wel tot ik doodga van smullen” —— “I can enjoy this until I die” —— baking with 6-year old in times of // a few minutes later he decided he doesn’t really like it and tells me there is no need to bake one of these for him next time.

Since I became a parent, me and my partner have naturally become more housebound. We even live in a house with a front- and backyard (and grateful). So the view through my lens has become more housebound, although the mundane has always had my interest. But to photograph it in the context of parenthood, where the world moves fast while you worry about daily futility’s, is hard. Mostly I resort to a few landscapes, and anonymous pictures of my children. But now the context in which I take those pictures changes, I somehow view the mundane around me differently. How I don’t know. This here is just a small pile of laundry, on the stairs that is still waiting to be painted, and will have to wait a while longer. I am curious what picture, and accompanying thought I will post next.
