πŸŽ₯more stills from my filmings with Swifterkamp!🎞 This time on the Swifterbantculture; a fascinating stone-age culture. In between mesolithic and neolithic, they were neither hunter-gatherers, nor farmers... or kinda both. As you can see here, they built substantial houses, but they did not stay in one place all year round; they did seasonally migrate. This seasonal migration happened likely via waterways. We have to find the first dugout canoe from this specific culture, but they tended to live near water, which provides a much easier means of transportation then through dangerous dense forests or swamp land.
This is part of two filming projects for Swifterkamp that kept me busy over the past year, on life in the mesolithic (middle stone-age) and neolithic (new stone-age), soon to be seen in the new museum presentation. I will be sharing more material over the coming period, so watch this space! With a huge thanks for all the help I got from an amazing crew of volunteers from Swifterkamp, an awesome cast to work with and the wonderful friends that helped my out big time.

🎞more stills from my filmings with Swifterkamp on life in the middle Stone-Age (Mesolithic). πŸ”₯ Yes, people did care about personal ornamentation, so let's once and for all get rid of this image of stone age people as brute unclean savages πŸ’ƒ Plenty of evidence from beads, jewelry and art from this time period, that people did care about their appearance. This shot is another one of those magical moments when you see your mental image of the mesolithic come to life in front of your lens. Not only was I excited about the models who really look the part, and how the center model came on set already with her hair braided exactly like how I envisioned it, but I'm also very thankful for all the clothes we could borrow, with these lovely ornamentations to give each model a truly personal touch, like this tunic by the talented Sitting around a fire in your mesolithic hut and doing some handicraft is how I see a rainy day spent 8.000 years ago.
This is part two filming projects that kept me busy over the past year, for the new museum presentation of Swifterkamp, on the Mesolithic and the Neolithic (Swifterbant culture), to be seen in the museum very soon! And I will keep sharing some material from it, so watch this space.

🎞Stills from my filmings on the middle Stone Age or mesolithic πŸͺ¨ soon to be seen at Swifterkamp . Here we show that water was rather important for peoples subsistence 🎣 as well as to facilitate their nomadic lifestyle (easier to move by boat then by land).

Last year I have been rather dormant here on the socials, but I have been far from idle. Several film-projects kept me nice and busy, like two educational films on Mesolithic and the Neolithic Swifterbant culture, together with Swifterkamp. By the end of the summer, they will be seen in the museum. I will be posting some sneak peeks over the coming weeks. Watch this space!

I can not put to words how thrilling it is to see your vision come to life in front of your lens. I am very thankful for the wonderful crew of Swifterkamp, this amazing cast that perfectly visualized the past, and all the help we got from volunteers, friends and enthusiasts. A number thank you to all.

New video with Museum Vrolik is out now! πŸŽ¬πŸ˜ƒ Watch it via the link in bio, or look it up on our channel on the Tube.
The museum has a large collection of animal morphology. In this video we highlight the collection of gorilla skulls. 🦍 The gorilla was discovered by western scientists only in the 19th century and first described in 1852. The surprising story of how and why such specimen were collected, will be the topic of this Anatomy Story.

A project to make moving Frankphotos in an effort to combine my love for the morbid, for history, for nature and for dark music.
Huge thank you to Sywert van Zanten , Julia Eliene Vos and Rosanne Maria van Spaendonck for being awesome and withstanding the cold
Many thanks to Pothamus for letting me use their music
Big thank you to Springlevend Verleden for lending me medieval weaponry
All the writing, filming, editing etc. was done by yours truly.

Excited that Pothamus let me use their music, for it is the perfect dark and heavy sound, that perfectly fits the magical atmosphere that I want to create with my images.
Dutch nature is highly undervalued. It is more then just flat fields. Especially the coastal landscape is beautifully rugged and perfect for the grim and moody shots I want to make. Even though I live in a capital city, I am blessed to have this so close by.
Featured is beautiful Julia Eliene Vos as one of the main characters.
