New blog! Incredible day of cyclocross

It was an exciting day at the first Exact Cross Heerderstrand. The red banners and course barriers were hung across the beach and forest. The day started with a heavy fog over the water as the amateurs raced, and continued with bright sun heating up the elite races.

An exciting night of cyclocross

Tuesday night was a milestone for me as a photographer. A few months ago I met cyclocross legend Sven Nys for a second time. Impressed with how many cross events I photographed last season (my first full cross season!), he took me up on my offer to photograph their team at a race.

Kiremko Nacht van Woerden has become my favorite event of the year. Cyclocross at night is rare, and this event does not disappoint with the fair, fun lights, and general vibe.

The Baloise Trek Lions had 4 riders racing. Lucinda Brand won the elite women's race, and Lars van der Haar won for his 8th consecutive year. Super cool to be there photographing the winning team!

This picture is my favorite from the night. Lar (right) congratulates his teammate David Haverdings as he crosses the finish line.
