I don't think I'll ever get over this beautiful, magical Dutch village... π₯Ήππ³π±
**Zaanse Schans** feels like stepping into another time β traditional green wooden houses, historic windmills, little workshops, the Zaan River and that unmistakable Dutch countryside charm. πΏπ¬οΈ
We spent our time simply strolling around, admiring the windmills, taking pictures from every possible angle ππΈ, and soaking in the atmosphere.
And honestly, it's one of those places where you don't really need a complicated itinerary.
Just **walk, explore, stop, look around and let the village take you back in time.** π
And of course... don't leave without stopping at one of the famous cheese shops for a **free cheese tasting**. ππ§ Because when you're in the Netherlands, cheese tasting is practically part of the itinerary! π³π±π
And a little practical update because you may have heard otherwise β **Zaanse Schans itself is currently still free to enter.** There had been plans to introduce an admission fee for tourists from spring 2026, but that introduction was postponed. So you can still walk around the village without an entrance ticket. The windmills and some museums do have separate admission fees, though. (https://www.zaanseschans.com/en/contact/)
So if you're planning a Netherlands trip, **put Zaanse Schans on your list.** β€οΈ
Come for the iconic windmills...
Stay for the charming houses, countryside, cheese, little shops and that wonderful feeling of being transported somewhere completely different.
π¬ **Have you visited Zaanse Schans yet?** What would you want to experience first β the windmills, the cheese tasting, or simply wandering around this beautiful little village? ππ³π±
π Save this for your Netherlands itinerary β and give yourself enough time to actually **slow down and enjoy the place**, rather than just rushing in for a few pictures. ππ¬οΈπ³π±
