A TRIBUTE TO GENERAL IKE NWACHUKWU ON HIS 85TH BIRTHDAY.

Today, the Government and people of Abia State celebrate a titan of leadership, General Ike Nwachukwu, on his 85th birthday.

As Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, is humbled to honour his legacy, a testament to the power of visionary leadership. His tenure as Military Governor of Old Imo State was marked by transformative initiatives that reshaped the landscape of the State and birthed institutions that have become cornerstones of progress in our region.

The Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Imo State University (now Abia State University), Federal University of Technology Owerri, and Imo Broadcasting Corporation stand as testaments and monuments to his foresight and commitment to development. These institutions have become cornerstones of progress; driving economic growth, education, and cultural promotion.

General Nwachukwu's impact transcends infrastructure; he inspired a generation of leaders and citizens alike. His selfless service and dedication to building for posterity left an indelible mark on our collective history. As a leader, he exemplified integrity, wisdom, and courage; qualities that continue to inspire us today.

As we celebrate this milestone birthday, on behalf of the Government and people of Abia State, Governor Alex Chioma Otti wishes General Nwachukwu continued good health, peace, and fulfilment. GOV. OTTI INAUGURATES ASCETA BOARD, ABIA LINE, CALLS FOR COMMITMENT FROM APPOINTEES.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has inaugurated the boards of Abia State College of Education (Technical) - Arochukwu (ASCETA) and Abia State Transport Corporation with Dr. Joe Emeson as Chairman of ASCETA, and Mr. Emmanuel Ufomba as Chairman of Abia Transport.

Speaking at the inauguration on Monday after the weekly State Executive Council meeting, Governor Otti congratulated them on their appointments and thanked them for accepting to serve the State in different capacities.

Governor Otti tasked them to be dedicated, saying that the job requires commitment, and expressed the hope that they would perform.

"I would like to thank you for accepting to serve your State. I want to thank you for making the sacrifice to be here this morning.

"I want to also remind you that the job requires full commitment. Of course, we went through a process before you were selected from amongst many other qualified people from the State.

"I do know that you consider this a privilege to serve our people. I do not doubt that all of you will give your best to the State" Gov. Otti stated.

Responding, the Chairman, Abia State College of Education (Technical) Arochukwu (ASCETA), Dr. Joe Emerson described education as a foundation for societal development.

While thanking Governor Alex Otti for the appointment, he assured that he would not disappoint the faith and confidence reposed in him.

Also speaking in an interview, the Chairman, Abia Transport Corporation, Mr. Emmanuel Ufomba thanked the Governor for the appointment and described him as a man who has a passion for the transport sector.

"I want to thank God for this opportunity. I also want to thank God on behalf of my members.

"I thank God for my Governor who has found us worthy to serve the Abia State.

"This is the area of my competence and by the grace of God, I'm going to put in my best to make sure I will make a bold mark in line with what the Governor has promised to do in the Abia transport sector," Mr. Ufomba stated.

The full list of those inaugurated includes; Dr. Joe Emeson – Chairman, Governing Council -- ASCETA, Dr. Mrs. Idowu O. Eluwa – Provost ASCETA, Mr. Emmanuel M. Ufomba - Chairman Abia Transport Corporation as well as Godanswer P. Kalu, Mrs. Salomey Onwu, Kingsley Oriaku, and Onyebuchi Nna who are members of the Abia Transport Corporation.
