To properly understand the various perfume families, think of them as a group of friends at a party. This is how their behaviour would be like...

1. Citrus = The Energetic Morning Person
Fresh, lemon, bergamot, grapefruit.
*Behavior:* Up at 6am, already had a workout, brings coffee for everyone. Bubbly, optimistic, a bit impatient. They light up the room instantly but can be a little sharp if you're not awake yet. Gone too fast, but they leave you feeling awake.

2. Floral = The Romantic and Expressive Friend
Rose, jasmine, peony, lily, ylang-ylang.
*Behavior:* Dresses beautifully, remembers birthdays, talks with their hands. Emotionally open, loves compliments, sometimes dramatic. They're the ones who'll make the dinner feel special and bring up deep feelings out of nowhere.

3. Woody = The Calm, Grounded Mentor
Sandalwood, cedar, vetiver, patchouli.

*Behavior:* Wears linen, surfs, and owns one really nice water bottle. Low-maintenance, clean, easygoing. They make everything feel calm and uncomplicated. Not dramatic, just pleasant to be around.

6. Gourmand = The Fun, Indulgent Friend
Vanilla, caramel, chocolate, coffee, praline.
*Behavior:* Always brings dessert. Laughs loud, loves comfort, makes everything feel cozy and nostalgic. A bit extra, but nobody complains because it smells/tastes too good. Can be overwhelming if they don't read the room.

7. Chypre = The Sophisticated, Complex One
Bergamot + oakmoss + patchouli + florals.
*Behavior:* Vintage fashion, reads philosophy, has strong opinions. Elegant but not flashy. Can seem cold at first, but has layers. They challenge you a bit, and you respect them for it.

8. Leather = The Edgy, Loyal Rebel
Leather, to***co, smoke, birch tar.
*Behavior:* Rides a motorbike, has tattoos, and tells brutal truths. Looks tough, but would drive 2 hours to help you move. Protective, loyal, and hates small talk. Not for casual occasions.

Let's talk about building a perfume collection.

Whether you are building with minis, Arabian brands, or Designer /Niche perfumes, I feel, it's only right that a good perfume collection, contain one or two perfumes from the various scent families. This way, you get something to wear in any season and occasion, you also get to try out different scents, and then, perfect your layering skills.

I have grouped some perfumes under the scent family they belong to. This should serve as a guide, as you build your collection. You can get one or more from each slide, but at least, get one from all.
