The recent social media threads and heated conversations surrounding the rotational agreement in Nnewi and the various arguments challenging the decision and position associated with the Igwe Nnewi, His Royal Majesty Igwe Kenneth Orizu III, should be a moment for sober reflection not an opportunity to deepen division among brothers and sisters.

Whether one supports, questions, or disagrees with any aspect of the rotational arrangement, Nnewi belongs to all of us. Our traditions, institutions and agreements deserve honest discussion, but such discussions must be guided by respect, facts, history and the collective interest of Nnewi.

Let us not turn social media into a battlefield where personal attacks replace reason, or where legitimate questions are mistaken for disrespect to our traditional institution.

At the same time, respect for our traditional institution should not mean that Ndi Nnewi cannot ask questions or seek clarification on matters that affect the future of our Kingdom. A strong community is one that can discuss difficult issues without destroying the bonds that hold it together.

The issue before us should therefore not be:

To those shouting “prove the 6 billion” and trying to twist the narrative with stories of “cash and drink”, hear this clearly:

Even if for the sake of argument the man was given anything as you claim…

The fact that Chief Gabbros Gabriel Nnanyelugo **still refused to keep quiet**, still refused to look the other way, and continued standing firm in the quest for fairness, accountability and justice in Nnewi…

That alone is the highest proof of integrity!

A man of weak character would have collected whatever was offered, smiled, and closed his mouth.

A man of integrity will take whatever comes his way and still refuse to sell the truth or abandon the people.

Nnanyelugo did not abandon Ndi Nnewi.
He did not abandon the struggle for transparency in the Motor Parts project.
He kept speaking. He kept demanding answers. He kept pushing for justice.

That is not the behaviour of a man who was “settled”.

Nnewi Ancient Kingdom does not belong to one individual or a privileged few. It belongs to every son and daughter of Nnewi. Together, we have a collective responsibility to build a stronger, more united, and more prosperous community for both the present and future generations.

Let us move away from excessive praise of individuals and instead uphold the collective will of the people. Leadership should be guided by fairness, consultation, and respect for agreements reached in the interest of our community.

Yes, Chief Cletus Ibeto has made remarkable contributions to the development of Nnewi. I acknowledge this wholeheartedly, and I am a living witness to many of his good works. His achievements deserve appreciation and respect.

However, where there is a collective agreement reached by the people, no small group should place itself above the wishes of the majority. The unity, peace, and progress of Nnewi must always come before personal interests or individual preferences.
