An impressive educational facility designed to meet modern standards and inspire educational excellence.

It was a moment of honour and celebration as distinguished personalities from across Nigeria gathered to celebrate the 60th birthday of veteran journalist and media icon, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju

Among the high-profile attendees was the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, alongside the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who proudly joined in celebrating one of the state’s illustrious sons.

Also present were the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, and the Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas.

Police Day is a moment of reflection, recognition, and appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices of police officers who work tirelessly to maintain peace, law, and order in society.

Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi and other Officers for the Police Day Walkathon, a fitness & awareness campaign across major routes within Lokoja metropolis to promote public awareness and police-community engagement.

The celebration highlights the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force in safeguarding lives and property across the nation. It is a day to honor fallen heroes, commend active officers, and encourage stronger collaboration between the police and the communities they serve.

SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, KABBA KOGI STATE, NIGERIA.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church is one of the oldest and most prominent Roman Catholic parishes in Kabba, Kogi State.
The church serves as a spiritual home for a large Catholic community drawn from Kabba and the surrounding Okun and broader Kogi Western area.

The church has deep roots in the history of Catholic evangelization in the region. It dates back to the early 20th century and was formally established as part of the Catholic mission in the area. According to records of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lokoja, the parish known locally as Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church was founded in 1924 and canonically erected in 1926 as a structured parish within the Church’s mission in northern Nigeria.

As part of the Catholic community that grew significantly over the decades, this parish became a centre for faith formation, worship, and pastoral care. It belonged originally to the Apostolic Prefecture of Kabba before the ecclesiastical structures were reorganized into what later became the Diocese of Kabba.

Sacred heart play a central role in the spiritual life of Kabba’s Catholic faithful. The parish hosts regular Masses, sacramental celebrations (such as baptisms, weddings, and confirmations), and devotional activities, fostering Catholic identity and community cohesion in the region.

Beyond liturgical life, the church has also been associated with education and social development. The parish community supported the growth of Sacred Heart College in Kabba, a Catholic secondary school that contributes to academic and moral formation for young people across ethnic and social backgrounds.

The church’s influence extends beyond daily parish life. It is widely recognised locally as a venerable institution in Kabba even described in historical profiles of the town as an ancient Catholic church that has produced numerous priests serving across Nigeria and internationally, including notable clergy from the Okun Catholic community.

As part of the global Roman Catholic Church, the parish is devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a popular Catholic devotion emphasizing Christ’s love and compassion. Its ministry aligns with the broader mission of the Church in Kogi State, which is under the ecclesiastical guidance of the Catholic Diocese of Lokoja, part of the Catholic Province of Abuja.
