Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Chief Mourner, alongside His Excellency Yahaya Bello, CON, and His Excellency Captain Idris Ichalla Wada, on Friday paid their final respects to the late former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.

The dignitaries participated in the burial rites and joined family members, friends, associates, and well-wishers in bidding farewell to the former governor at the Gudu Islamic Cemetery, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.

May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant his family, loved ones, and the people of Kogi State the strength to bear the loss.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

CONFLUENCE STADIUM, LOKOJA, KOGI STATE.

Confluence Stadium, a major venue for football, athletics, competitions, fitness activities and other major public events in Kogi State.

The stadium was built in 1998 and later upgraded in 2008. It has a reported seating capacity of about 25,000 spectators and has served as the home ground of Kogi United and Confluence Queens, two teams that have represented Kogi State in Nigerian football.

Beyond football, Confluence Stadium has also hosted significant state and national events. In 2016, for example, it hosted the 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria Games, bringing members of Nigeria's judiciary together in Lokoja.

The stadium also serves the wider community through fitness and recreational activities. In 2025, the Kogi State Government organised an aerobic exercise programme at the facility, encouraging civil servants and members of the public to participate in physical activity.

For Kogi, Confluence Stadium is more than a football ground. It is a place where athletes compete, young talents dream, communities gather and memorable moments are created.

With continued investment, proper maintenance and modern sporting facilities, the stadium can play an even greater role in developing young athletes, supporting local clubs, attracting sporting competitions and creating opportunities for the people of Kogi State.
