Sometimes, I wonder whether our politicians and civil servants truly remember that one day, they will return to dust.
Many amass enormous wealth, siphoning public funds and engaging in corruption without a second thought. They take what they need, and even what they do not need, forgetting that life on earth is temporary. No one lives forever here. We spend less than a century in this world, yet our actions echo far beyond our years.
Billions are stolen in the name of securing future generations, yet what kind of legacy is being built? Wealth acquired without integrity rarely produces disciplined or responsible heirs. Instead, it often breeds waste, entitlement, and moral decay.
Across Nigeria, many ministries appear ineffective, and numerous government parastatals struggle to deliver meaningful impact. Meanwhile, staggering sums are spent on frivolities. Anyone who has visited public hospitals, especially in rural communities, can testify to the heartbreaking realities: poor facilities, inadequate equipment, and overwhelmed staff.
The question remains: when will citizens begin to consistently demand accountability from those entrusted with leadership? Must we wait until the end of life to seek justice?
May God guide our leaders toward integrity and grant Nigerians the strength to build a nation rooted in transparency, responsibility, and compassion.
