AYOMIDE: My joy has come! It’s quite fascinating how we name our children in Africa based on our prayers, hopes and dreams, sometimes even the circumstances of their birth. For this episode of series, I wanted to go back to the basics and take simple portraits highlighting the model’s best features using a dramatic light set up.

They say the eyes are like windows to the soul. I realize this to be true, whether they are open or closed.

Meet SEMILOGO: One whose life brings glory!

Early in June, while on set of podcast, I came across this remarkable human . She was very ery friendly and unassuming. I watched as she chatted with the host before the recording. Once the interview started, the entire crew was held spellbound by the story of her life. I don’t think I’ve ever paid so much attention to a podcast episode as I didn’t know when an hour and a half had passed! I marveled at how resilient a human being can be, despite several seemingly insurmountable challenges. She shared heart wrenching stories and how she eventually triumphed, while still healing and now helping others with such effortless grace and then it dawned on me that this was the meaning of her name playing out in the story of her life. You can get the full gist on YouTube channel.

After the recording, the documentarian in me knew there was going to be more, so I continued clicking while drawing closer, and then it came, first as a gasp, then a sigh, and then in torrents. The tears flowed continually, washing away the pain of all she had to endure. Tears of relief, that a heavy burden had been lifted.

Her features were striking - a photographer’s delight, and when I asked if I could take a few portraits of her, she obliged. I was happy with the results after a few minutes in front of my lens. I saw not just a survivor, but a warrior. To call her a strong woman seems like an understatement.

Welcome to my discovery portrait series, where I take portraits of people I find interesting or remarkable in some way.

There’s something really special about this season of my life, and it’s not cliche to say it could only have been God who has brought me this far. I’m glad for the wilderness, I’m glad for valleys and I’m glad for the mountaintops He’s brought me through these last few years.

This song by is very personal to my journey in life as a creative, as a Christian and as a human being. What would I be if not for God’s grace. Thank you Lord for never letting go of me no matter how far I run! Happy Birthday to me!🥳🎊🎉🕺🏾
