So during a funeral, this coffin could not properly hold the body of a pregnant woman.
Bandits attacked their community some days ago and reportedly shot the woman and her husband in front of their home.
It was said that the woman was heavily pregnant with twins.
The part that broke me emotionally was hearing that the coffin could not close properly because of her pregnancy and had to be tied together with rope.
I became quiet after hearing it.
A whole family wiped away.
A mother.
A father.
And unborn children who never even had the opportunity to see the world.
These are the painful realities many communities in the north are facing quietly.
People sleep with fear.
Travel with fear.
Wake up every day uncertain of what tomorrow holds.
Too many innocent lives have been lost to banditry and violence.
Too many homes destroyed.
Too many children left without parents.
Too many parents burying their children.
We truly need help.
We need safety.
We need a system that protects innocent lives.
