Gov. Inuwa Accelerates Work at Agro-Livestock Deve Zone, Begins Procurement, Installation of Equipment for Ultramodern Abattoir
..As Turkish Manufacturers Inspect Facility, Assures Quality, Timely Delivery
The Gombe State Government, through the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project, has advanced preparations for the manufacture, procurement and installation of modern abattoir equipment following a technical inspection of the ongoing ultra-modern abattoir project by the Turkey-based manufacturer, Teknotis Group.
The visit follows a Gombe State delegation’s technical engagement with manufacturers in Turkey to assess equipment, cold-room technology and operational abattoirs, as part of efforts to ensure that the facility meets international standards and strengthens Nigeria’s livestock value chain.
The State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Prof. Usman Bello Abubakar, said the inspection marked a critical step towards the next phase of the project, with the Turkish firm expected to commence arrangements for manufacturing and installing the required equipment.
He explained that the delegation’s earlier visit to Ankara and Istanbul included inspections of manufacturing workshops, cold-room production facilities and operational abattoirs to assess the company’s technical capacity and the infrastructure required for efficient slaughtering, meat processing and preservation.
Prof. Abubakar noted that cold-room facilities and modern slaughtering equipment are essential to a fully functional abattoir, supporting meat preservation, hygiene and operational efficiency.
The Permanent Secretary, Gombe State Ministry of Livestock Development, Bldr Said Ahmad Guli commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for driving the project to international standards and praised the L-PRES team for its commitment to delivery.
He expressed confidence that the facility would be completed and commissioned before the end of the current administration.
Speaking after inspecting the facility, Engr. Mustapha, representing Teknotis Group, expressed satisfaction with the quality of construction and assured the state government that manufacturing arrangements would commence upon the team’s return to Turkey.
“We are happy to see that the project is of high quality. When we return to Turkey, we will begin the manufacturing process and work towards delivery within the agreed timeframe,” he said, assuring that the equipment would meet the expected quality standards.
The development marks a key step towards operationalising the ultra-modern abattoir, strengthening meat processing and preservation, and advancing livestock value-chain development through the Agro-Livestock Development Zone.
