It’s my 9th wedding anniversary 🤍

In a time where marriage feels disposable,
where people are quick to walk away,
and giving 100% isn’t always mutual…
I’m standing here, grateful.
Grateful that I married right.
Grateful that I can boldly say—marriage is sweet.
Grateful for the blessings that come with it.
And most importantly…
I am grateful for my husband, Yelawos Godiya Bonga.

Watching baby Lamna reminded me of something I’m still learning myself…
to rest.
Not in my plans, not in what I can control… but in God’s plan.

I almost didn’t post this…

Just me, my Canon camera, and a lot of uncertainty.
I didn’t know it then, but this was the beginning of Unyc Photography during my NYSC

I’ve learned that consistency truly matters — and I’ve been here long enough to know that.

For a long time, I spoke against fear… but the truth is, I was living in it.
It took me a while to accept that my work is worth being seen.

Even now, I still feel nervous sending out client galleries, wondering if they’ll love what I created.
I still struggle sometimes with pricing my services… and I breathe a sigh of relief every time a client is happy.

I’ve held back from using my voice too — thinking maybe I don’t sound good enough or speak well enough.

But this is me choosing differently.

No more hiding.
No more overthinking.
No more waiting.

I’m growing — in my skill, my work, and in who I’m becoming.

So get ready…

On April 2nd, my parents celebrated over four decades of marriage… and I found myself sitting with that for a moment 🥹

Four decades of choosing each other.Of staying. Of growing. Of becoming.

Love like that doesn’t just happen—it is built, nurtured, and held through seasons most people never see.

And somehow, April keeps wrapping me in its beauty… because my own wedding anniversary is also this month 🤍

As if that wasn’t enough, yesterday our dear manager Mercy began her own forever journey.

So yes… it’s been a lot. Beautiful, full, overwhelming in the softest way.I’ve been in many places at once, holding love in different forms—that’s why I’ve been a little quiet here.

But today, I just want to honour my parents.For their love. For their strength. For showing me what it means to stay.

I have so much to share with you… stories, moments, everything in between 😊But until then—keep documenting your journey.

Stop scrolling for a moment…

This morning, while washing the plates, my mum called and told me she wasn’t feeling well.
As I tried reaching someone, I didn’t realize Kabrhan had been listening.
A few minutes later, my husband asked, “Did you hear what your son said?”

Before I could answer, I heard his little voice from the parlor: “Mummy, come… let us pray for my grandma.”
I left everything and went to him.
With his tiny hands holding ours, head bowed, he said: “In Jesus name, God heal my grandma. In Jesus name.”

And I became emotional.

No big words.
No long prayers.
Just a pure heart… full of love and faith.

In that moment, I wasn’t just proud— I was reminded that children are always watching, always learning… and sometimes, they lead us back to what truly matters
This is one of the reasons I love documenting children— their purity, their honesty, their quiet way of showing us what really matters.

Recently, a lot has been going on in my life.

For the longest time, I held back from fully pursuing the things that matter to me… because I thought there was still time. Time to become. Time to arrive. Time to finally choose myself.

But I’m learning—gently, and sometimes the hard way—that the best time to be all that you want to be… is now.

You can go back to school.
You can start that business idea, even if it’s small.
You can save up and take that dream trip.
You can wear your best outfit today.
You can rest without guilt.
You can set boundaries and protect your peace.
You can make that call.
You can say “I’m sorry” or “I love you” while you still can.
You can show up for yourself, even in the smallest ways.
You can take the photos, capture the memories, and be in them too.
You can love more—loudly, fully.
You can laugh harder… and cry when you need to.

Because life is short. And the truth is—we don’t always know how much time we have.

So I’m choosing me. Intentionally. Softly. Boldly.And I love how that feels.
