FIRST JOB, FIRST THREAT 😞

2021 December 15th. I had a Job on that day. A full wedding coverage I was paid 60k 🤣
I left to Onitsha with my colleague on 14th, after the Job which extremely tedious we only arrived Aba on the 16th because the event closed very late. Fast forward to 5 months after the event, through so many calls and text messages to my clients asking him to send my balance so he could get his jobs delivered to, he ignored me for 5 months.
One early morning I was prepping for work my phone rang and it was him calling with a very harsh tone asking for his job. That was were he made a shocking statement that left me scared 😳

MY STRUGGLE AS A PHOTOGRAPHER 🤔

So one busy Saturday evening, he walks up to me and said "Marcel get ready tomorrow Sunday we are going to cover a Child Dedication". Being a greenhorn in the business I was rather excited to at least witness my first experience as a photographer in the field of work.
8am the next day I was all set and ready for the days work. We set out to work but all I had to do was just hold the Gadget bags and watch as the professional did their thing. It was stressful but they didn't mind, maybe because the were used to it?🤔
I kept on following them everywhere and anywhere. I wasn't the one with Camera but I was already tired, stressed out but because I was determined to learn I kept on pushing it
Finally reception he handed me the Camera and said "go and snap, just do your thing I will do the selecting later," then came the hand trembling, the heart skipping, the leg shaking 🤣
The other guy (videographer) noticed and said "calm down bro, nothing dey there"😠
So with that encouragement which at that moment was what I needed spurred me to do some amazing shots (Or rather what I thought was an amazing shots😂)
Looking back now I can only remember that moment with a smile and think about how far I have come. Those my senior colleagues or rather bosses has become now my best friends and partners.

PHOTOGRAPHY WAS NEVER MY THING

My name is Marcel AKANO and I am the CEO of MAXLENS PHOTOGRAPHY.
Five years ago when I started this photography journey I had only my determination and will to succeed, for someone just returning from Abuja to school in Abia State, Aba precisely it was a daunting task that I never believed I could achieve. But I have always been strong willed. My return consided with that start of the COVID Lockdown so it was very tough, but we kept pushing.
To think that I got my first personal Job same Year I started learning showed how fast I was willing to learn and grow. Looking back at it now today. I can only tell my stories with a smile on my chin.
Let's create amazing memories together. That has always been our Mantra
