Looking back at our Coastal Tour Guide Training with Namibian Academy for Tourism and Hospitality, I think I can speak for all of us when I say what an incredible experience it was.
A heartfelt thank you to Sean Röhm, Nikola Fahrbach and Peter Bridgeford. We were incredibly fortunate to learn from trainers with such deep knowledge and genuine passion for Namibia's environment, history and tourism. Your enthusiasm was contagious, and it reminded us why protecting and sharing our country is such an important responsibility.
The biggest lesson that has stayed with me is how fragile our precious desert really is. I always knew it needed protection, but now I understand why. Protecting the Namib means protecting the future of tourism too, so that visitors can continue to experience these untouched landscapes for many years to come.
The training went far beyond learning facts. We covered everything from the origin of the Namib Desert, dune systems, rivers, fauna and flora, the Benguela Current and marine ecosystems, birdlife, the history of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, human impact on our environment, and so much more.
Our practical excursions took us to Sandwich Harbour and on a historical tour through Swakopmund. Throughout the course we were also observed as guides. Our trainers looked at how we communicated, presented information, led a group, stayed calm, made people feel comfortable and safe, and handled ourselves professionally.
Thank you to NATH and our trainers for investing your time, knowledge and experience in all of us. We have learned so much, and I'm sure I'm speaking for the whole group when I say we truly appreciate everything you shared with us.
