What is an Orthomosaic ?

Imagine you take a bunch of photos of an area from a drone high above.

Normally, if you just stitch those photos together, things like buildings might look a bit tilted or stretched, especially near the edges of the pictures. It's like trying to flatten a ball onto a table – it won't lie perfectly flat without some distortion.

An orthomosaic is like a super-smart, perfectly flat photo-map. Specialized software takes all those drone pictures and not only stitches them together into one giant image, but it also corrects all the tilts and stretches. This makes sure that everything on the map is shown exactly as it is on the ground, as if you were looking straight down from directly above.

So, it's a highly detailed, accurate aerial photo that you can use just like a precise map to measure distances, areas, and see things clearly without any weird distortions.
