Thirty years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Lim first opened their stall in Wisma Merdeka, bringing traditional Hong Kong congee into the daily lives of Sabahans. Now run by the second generation, the Hilltop outlet has been given a tidy and pleasant facelift but the taste hasn't changed one bit. The ever present queue outside says it all.
The secret? Mr. Lim blended the silky smooth texture of Hong Kong congee with the savoury flavours preferred by local palates, resulting in a bowl that's perfectly balanced and rich in depth.

· The owner's personal recommendation: Egg & Beef Congee a raw egg is cracked into the piping hot congee, stirred in just before eating. The egg silk wraps around tender slices of beef. One taste and you'll be hooked.
