There’s something that begins to stir inside me every time I take on a new challenge photographing people.
It happens even during those first conversations.
Almost without realizing it, something inside me starts choosing one of them as the protagonist… and from there, I begin imagining a brief story told through their voice.
There is no script.
The story slowly begins to appear while everything is happening… when I find those little glimpses that reveal who that person really is.
A look.
A little quirk.
The way they reach for someone.
The way they laugh when they forget I’m there.
Once I manage to connect with that, everything starts to flow on its own.
And then editing stops being only about choosing images.
Another part begins, one I deeply enjoy: discovering how I’m going to tell that little story… how to give it rhythm, how to let it breathe, how to materialize what I was feeling while I watched them.
And when everything is finally brought together…
somehow, it resonates inside me like a little poem about life.
One of those that ends up leaving something in me too.
And maybe that’s one of the reasons I still love doing this so much.
