No guests. No rush. No pressure.
Just the two of them, celebrating their private elopement in Cozumel, Mexico, exactly the way they wanted to remember it.
A bottle of rosé chilling on ice, getting ready together in the July heat, and vows exchanged by the ocean with a towering Ceiba tree standing behind them.
As the sun began to set, we wandered the shoreline with nowhere in particular to be. We weren’t searching for the perfect spot we simply kept walking until something caught our eye.
When you have time, you start noticing the little things. The way he reached for her dress before she even had to ask. The way she quietly fixed his hair after the ocean breeze. The kind of care that happens naturally when no one is performing for the camera.
At the far end of the beach, the last light bounced off the water, wrapping them in the softest glow. We found it simply because we had the time to keep exploring.
A little later, two young girls staying at the hotel grew curious and followed us for a while. Before running back to their families, they shyly asked if they could each have a flower from the bouquet, congratulated them in Spanish, and ran off smiling.
Maybe that’s what we love most about photographing people who choose to slow down.
When you give the day room to breathe, you don’t just find beautiful light you notice the quiet moments, the unexpected ones, and the tiny details that make a story impossible to plan.
