Crazy story…

Part 1: Last year, I was in serious trouble. My passport renewal had been stuck at the passport office for 7 months, and one of my first post-COVID overseas assignments was coming up in just a couple of weeks. In a moment of desperation, I reached out to Senator for help. Two days later, my passport was on my doorstep!

Part 2: Earlier this year, I was returning from another overseas assignment and, by chance, ended up on the same flight as Senator Wyden. I took the opportunity to tell him how his office had helped me with my passport issue and thanked him sincerely.

Part 3: A few weeks ago, I got a call from the Senator’s field representative, Nichole, inviting me to have coffee with Senator Wyden. I hadn’t given him my business card, but he remembered my name, and Nichole managed to track me down!

Thank you for your service, Senator 🙏—you’ve got my vote for life.

The Inca Salt Pans of Maras in Peru’s Sacred Valley. For centuries, the Inca utilized the striking network of pools here in Maras to gather salt from the natural spring. Today, these salt pans continue to be actively tended by local families, with each pool individually owned and meticulously maintained. Have you ever visited a place with such a rich history?

Can you name the famous island in the background? Its waters are home to a close cousin of sharks - the stingray. Stingrays have a couple of cool superpowers. Rather than using their eyes to hunt, they use electro-sensors to locate their next meal - which they then crush with insanely powerful jaws. Masters of camouflage, stingrays spend much of their time hiding on the ocean floor - but if threatened their venomous barbed tail becomes a weapon that discourages many predators.
