ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့ တစ်ပါတ်ကျော်က ဓါတ်ပုံပြိုင်ပွဲမှာ
ဝင်ပြိုင်ဖို့ ဆိုပြီး
လမ်းမတော်ဆိပ်ကမ်း နဲ့
ကြည့်မြင်တိုင်ညစျေး ဘက်ကို
Street ထွက်ရိုက်ဖြစ်တယ်။
ပုံတွေပြန်ကြည့်မိတော့ တရက်တည်းတိုက်တိုက်ဆိုင်ဆိုင် နေရာနှစ်ခုစလုံးမှာ ကြက်တူရွေးပုံတွေ ရိုက်ခဲ့မိတာ တွေ့ရတယ်။
ဆိပ်ကမ်းက ကြက်တူရွေး (ကြေးကျုပ်) တွေကတော့ အကောင်ငယ်လေးတွေ ဖြစ်ပြီး တချို့ကောင်လေးတွေဆို နေပူစပ်ကြား လှောင်အိမ်ထဲ လိုက်နေရတော့ stress ပိပြီး သူတို့ အမွှေးသူတို့ ပြန်နုတ်ထားတာရယ်၊
အာဟာရချို့တဲ့တာရယ် ၊ သန့်ရှင်းမှုမရှိတာရယ်ကြောင့်ရော ပိုးမွှားတွေ ကိုက်ထားလို့ရောနဲ့ ကြည့်ပြီး စိတ်မကောင်းဖြစ်မိတယ်။
ကြက်တူရွေးတွေဟာ အရမ်းဉာဏ်ကောင်းပြီး လူမှုဆက်ဆံရေး လိုအပ်တဲ့ သတ္တဝါတွေပါ။ ဆိပ်ကမ်းလို ဆူညံပြီး လူရှုပ်တဲ့နေရာမှာ လှောင်အိမ်ကျဉ်းကျဉ်းလေးနဲ့ ထားတာဟာ သူတို့အတွက် အရမ်းကြောက်စရာကောင်းတဲ့ အခြေအနေပါ။
အမွှေးတွေ ကျွတ်ကုန်တာဟာ သူတို့ကိုယ်သူတို့
စိတ်ဖိစီးမှုကြောင့် ပြန်နှုတ်တာလည်း ဖြစ်နိုင်ပါတယ်။ ဒါဟာ ကာကွယ်ပေးမယ့်သူ မရှိတဲ့အတွက် သူတို့ဘာသာ နာကျင်အောင် ပြန်လုပ်မိတဲ့ လက္ခဏာပါ။
တကယ်တော့ ဒီလိုမျိုး တောရိုင်းတိရစ္ဆာန်တွေကို လူစည်ကားရာနေရာတွေမှာ ပေါ်ပေါ်ထင်ထင် ရောင်းချနေတာဟာ ဥပဒေအရ တားမြစ်ထားသင့်တဲ့ အရာပါ။
ဒါပေမဲ့ ထိထိရောက်ရောက် တားဆီးမယ့်သူ မရှိတဲ့အခါ "ဘေးမဲ့လွှတ်ဖို့" ဆိုတဲ့ ခေါင်းစဉ်အောက်မှာ ဒီလိုမျိုး ကာကွယ်စောင့်ရှောက်မှုမဲ့တဲ့ လုပ်ရပ်တွေက ပုံမှန်လို ဖြစ်နေကြတာပါ။
"သနားလို့ ဝယ်လွှတ်တယ်" ဆိုတဲ့ လုပ်ရပ်က ဖမ်းတဲ့သူတွေကို ပိုပြီး အားပေးသလို ဖြစ်စေတဲ့အတွက် ဝယ်ယူခြင်း မပြုတာက ပိုကောင်းပါတယ်။
ဈေးထဲက ကောင်လေးကျတော့ သူ့သခင်က ဂရုတစိုက် ကျွေးမွေးပြုစုထားတာ သိသာပါတယ်။ အတောင်အလက် စုံစုံလင်လင်နဲ့ လက်ပေါ်မှာ အေးဆေးနားနေနိုင်တယ်ဆိုတာ သူ့ကို ချစ်ခြင်းမေတ္တာနဲ့ ကာကွယ်ပေးထားလို့ပဲ ဖြစ်မှာပါ။
လွတ်လပ်မှုဆိုတာ လှောင်အိမ်ပြင်ပမှာ ရှိနေတာတင် မဟုတ်ဘဲ၊ ကိုယ့်ကို တန်ဖိုးထား ဂရုစိုက်တဲ့ လက်တစ်စုံပေါ်မှာလည်း ရှိနေနိုင်ပါတယ်။
ကြက်တူရွေးတွေဟာ သဘာဝတောထဲမှာဆိုရင် အုပ်စုလိုက် နေထိုင်ကြပြီး သစ်သီးဝလံနဲ့ အစေ့အဆန်တွေကို စားသုံးကြပါတယ်။
တကယ်တော့ သူတို့ဟာ အရမ်းကို ခံနိုင်ရည်ရှိတဲ့ မျိုးစိတ်တွေဖြစ်လို့ မြို့ပြပတ်ဝန်းကျင်တွေမှာပါ အဆင်ပြေပြေ ရှင်သန်နိုင်ကြပါတယ်။
သူတို့ဟာ အာဖရိကနဲ့ အာရှတိုက် (မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ အပါအဝင်) ဒေသတွေရဲ့ မျိုးရင်းစိတ်တွေ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံရဲ့ သဘာဝပတ်ဝန်းကျင်၊ သစ်တောတွေနဲ့ စိုက်ခင်းတွေမှာ အလေ့ကျ ရှင်သန်ကြတဲ့ ဒေသမျိုးရင်းတွေပါ။
သူတို့မှာ ပါလာတဲ့ အတောင်ပံတွေက လှောင်အိမ်ထဲမှာ နေဖို့မဟုတ်ဘဲ ကောင်းကင်ကျယ်ကြီးမှာ ပျံသန်းဖို့အတွက်ပဲလေ။
သဘာဝထဲမှာပဲ သူတို့ဘာသာ လွတ်လွတ်လပ်လပ် အစာရှာမယ်၊ အဖော်တွေနဲ့ စုဖွဲ့ပျံသန်းမယ်ဆိုရင် အမွှေးတွေကျွတ်တာ၊ စိတ်ဖိစီးတာမျိုးတွေလည်း ရှိမှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။ လူတွေက သူတို့ကို "လှလို့" ဆိုပြီး အနားမှာ ထားချင်ကြပေမဲ့ တကယ်တမ်းတော့ အဝေးကနေ ကြည့်ရတဲ့ သူတို့ရဲ့ လွတ်လပ်တဲ့ အလှတရားကမှ အစစ်အမှန်ပါ။
Reflections on Freedom: A Tale of Two Parrots
About a week ago, I headed out to Lanthit Jetty and Kyimyindaing Night Market to do some street photography for a photo contest. Looking back at the shots, I realized I had coincidentally captured images of parrots in both locations on the same day.
The parrots at the jetty—specifically Rose-ringed Parakeets—were quite small. Seeing some of them stuck in cages under the scorching sun was heartbreaking. They were clearly suffering from severe stress, plucking out their own feathers. Between malnutrition, poor hygiene, and insect bites, they looked pitiful.
Parrots are incredibly intelligent and social creatures. Keeping them in cramped cages in a noisy, chaotic place like a jetty is a terrifying ordeal for them. The feather loss is a classic sign of self-mutilation caused by extreme stress; when they have no one to protect them, they end up hurting themselves.
In reality, the open sale of wildlife in crowded public spaces should be legally prohibited. However, without effective enforcement, these acts of neglect continue to hide under the guise of "merit-making" through animal release. While people buy them to set them free out of compassion, this actually fuels the cycle by encouraging poachers to catch more.
It is always better to refrain from purchasing them altogether.
In contrast, the parrot I saw at the market was clearly well-cared for by its owner. With full, healthy plumage and a calm demeanor while perched on its owner's hand, it was evident that this bird felt safe and loved. It reminded me that freedom isn't just about being outside a cage; it can also be found in the hands of someone who truly values and cares for you.
In the wild, parrots live in flocks, feeding on fruits and seeds. They are actually quite resilient and can even adapt well to urban environments. These parakeets are native to Africa and Asia, including Myanmar, where they thrive in forests and plantations.
Their wings were never meant for cages; they were designed to soar through the vast sky. If they were allowed to forage and fly freely with their flocks in nature, they wouldn't suffer from stress or feather plucking.
Humans often want to keep them close because they are "beautiful," but the true beauty of these creatures is best witnessed from a distance—where they are free.
