Why Fresh 48 & Newborn Sessions Mean So Much to Me (A Novel🫣)
As someone who always knew she wanted to be a mom, and who truly cherishes carrying the title of “mama”, being invited into those first few hours and days of your baby's life is an incredible honor. It isn't just another session to me—it's the privilege of preserving the beginning of your family's next chapter.
Having two babies of my own has shown me just how quickly time passes. One minute you're bringing your baby home, and suddenly you’re celebrating their first birthday.
I have so many moms reach out who aren't sure if they should book a Fresh 48 or newborn session. Let me be the first to say—I completely understand.
When our daughter was born, I told myself I would take her newborn photos. Then life happened. Two months passed before I realized I had never done them. Between healing, adjusting to motherhood, and simply surviving those newborn days, I missed that window. I found myself constantly reaching for my camera during every monthly milestone, trying to make up for the memories I hadn't intentionally preserved.
After feeling that disappointment, I promised myself things would be different when we found out we were expecting our son. Before he was born, we booked his newborn session and I made sure I captured his Fresh 48 photos. I wanted to remember everything.
There is something so beautiful about those first hours in the hospital. The quiet chaos. The overwhelming love. Their tiny fingers and wrinkly toes. The hospital bracelets you'll eventually tuck away in a keepsake box. Their little button nose, wisps of hair, and sleepy stretches. Those moments exist for such a short time, and Fresh 48 sessions preserve them exactly as they are before you head home and begin your new routines.
As for newborn sessions, many families hesitate because they're worried their toddler won't cooperate or that their home isn't picture-perfect. As a toddler mom myself, I truly get it. I've lived through the newborn haze twice, and I've been navigating the strong-willed toddler stage for the last two years (if you know, you know).
Here's what I want you to know—your home doesn't need to be spotless, and your children don't need to be perfectly behaved.
As your photographer and fellow mom—I'm not looking for perfection. I'm there to meet your family exactly where you are. The snuggles, the snack breaks, the toddler giggles, the baby cuddles, the beautifully imperfect moments that make your family uniquely yours!
At the end of your session, I don't just want you to have beautiful photos. I want you to have a gallery that takes you right back to this season of life—a season that may feel exhausting while you're in it but one you'll someday wish you could relive, even just for a moment.
If you made it this far, I hope this is your reminder to book the session. I also want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, to each and every family who has welcomed me into to those intimate first moments. To capture your moments is an honor, and to have your support of my business is truly one of the greatest blessings 🫶🏻
