Jodlerfest 🎊

ENG👇

No i oczywiście kocha swoją flagę!

Jodlerfest

Which means the Federal Yodeling Festival. During the weekend of June 26–28, the whole of Basel turned into the capital of celebrations of one of the oldest traditions in Switzerland. The festival takes place every 3 years since 1924, each time in a different Swiss city. The very first edition was held right here in Basel over 100 years ago!

But what actually is yodeling? Honestly, I had to check it in a dictionary myself—I wasn’t entirely sure what the verb really meant 🫣
So, the name comes from a very characteristic way of singing—switching the voice from low to high. The tradition goes back to old customs—people living in the Swiss Alps used this type of singing to communicate over long distances, taking advantage of how well sound travels in the mountains.

One of the most characteristic elements of the festival are the so-called “alphorns” – long wooden horns.

The number of festival participants exceeds 100,000 people, while among the performers alone there are nearly over 12,000.

From my observations, the majority of performers were older people, although there were also children and young people.

Personally, I attended only one day of the festival – on June 28 temperatures reached nearly 39°C! I watched with admiration as people, in such extreme heat, often wearing quite heavy traditional folk costumes, danced, sang, and performed in front of the audience.

Nevertheless, the scale of the event is truly impressive – yodelers even flew in from the other side of the world, from Australia and New Zealand. These are descendants of former emigrants who still cultivate the traditions of their ancestors.

That’s what I love about Switzerland – it preserves its traditions and culture and is proud of its heritage. And of course, it loves its flag!

I have the impression that this is becoming a rarer phenomenon in Western Europe… Diversity, national identity, respect for traditions, and passing them on to future generations is something truly beautiful ♥️🇨🇭

She laughed before we even started — and honestly, that set the tone for everything.

J E L E N A brought this energy to the session that’s hard to describe but impossible to miss. Warm, a little mysterious, completely herself. The kind of person you photograph and think: the camera is going to love this.

We played with the light, kept things loose, and just let the moment breathe. No direction needed — just presence.

Some people carry light without knowing it.

J E L E N A is one of them — warm where others are guarded, open where others perform. There’s a softness to her that the camera couldn’t help but follow.

We didn’t chase the perfect shot. We just let the afternoon do what it does — and somewhere in the quiet, this is what it left behind.

I always say: give me someone with personality and the photos take care of themselves.

Jelena gave me personality, warmth, a laugh that fills a room — and this quiet depth underneath all of it that kept showing up in the frame when she wasn’t looking.

We chased the soft light, talked between shots, and created something that actually feels like her.

That’s the only kind of photo worth taking.

Feminin photography it’s something, what I truly love! ❤️

No heavy edits. No hard poses. No pretending.

Just soft light, a relaxed vibe, and you — exactly as you are.

I believe every woman deserves to have photos that actually look like her. Not a filtered version, not a stiff pose — but her real self, on a really good day.

During our session I'll guide you through everything. I'll show you where to put your hands, how to move, when to look away — and I'll probably make you laugh at least twice before we even get the first shot. That's usually when the magic happens.

You don't need experience. You don't need to be "ready". You just need to show up — I'll take care of the rest. 🤍
