Short tail from Yala national park. Something that is very unusual to witness probably an injury caused during a hunt. Leopards have long tails to keep balance when it leaps or jumps across crevices and rocky areas. It also helps them while running after prey and the prey is not running in a straight direction where the tail allows it to maneuver quickly.

Gentle giants of Sri Lanka. Unlike African elephants only about 5% of elephants in Sri Lanka have tusks. It is unfortunate that people don't seem to understand how extremely lucky we are to have them roaming our jungles. We have lost 3 of the biggest tuskers we had between 2017/2018 due to poaching.

The new life from Kotabendiwewa Yala national park. Its great to see these two male cubs growing up very fast alongside their mother. Proving to be very bold playing out in the open fields. A male cub usually spends about a year and a half or more under the protection of their mother. Approximate age of these cubs being about 9/10 months.

A beautiful family portrait of normally unsociable creatures. This male leopard captures this buffalo calf and drags his kill to a bush close by to feast on his catch only to find another female leopard joining him a few moments later. After a while she disappears and returns with her new born and the male leopard had no hesitation sharing with the new lot.

The new male cub from Maradammaduwa that i witnessed while on a safari in Wilpattu national park (approximate age 7/9 months). He was seen in this area along with his other sibling for a few days. According to my previous sightings a mother leaves her cubs in a secure area in order to gather food an return to feed her litter. I returned the next morning only to find them still lying around the same area deeper in the jungle not giving me a chance of a clear picture although only to find the mother return an take her cubs with her to where I'm guessing she has hidden her prize kill.
