Black-backed Dwarf Kingfisher / Three-toed Kingfisher
(previously known as Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher)
During my many visits to Wilpattu over the years, this was a long awaited moment. This was the third visit I had seen this colorful little fellow. The first time, failed to capture, second time, managed, but wasn’t quite what I had hoped for.
Finally, was able to capture the best one and made even more special by having two in the single frame. While we were photographing the little one, the adult unexpectedly arrived with a lizard and fed the youngster right in front of us.
