“8 years ago, today Iver was born.
My wife, Robyn, who’s brain had stopped working, but her body and heart had been keeping Iver alive for weeks 22-28 of her pregnancy, would be taken off of life support.
The 5 hours between meeting Iver and saying goodbye to Robyn were the hardest moments of my life. I lost my wife, but I was given the gift of becoming a father to my little miracle man.
Iver was born 2lbs 13oz, and we spent the next 12 weeks in the NICU before I came home with him.
Today, he’s 8. He’s incredibly smart, funny, caring, outgoing, loving, thoughtful, adventurous, and kind. I’m grateful for every day with this wonderful boy, and for the gift of being his father.

A sudden and unexpected act of kindness can make anyone’s day. One recent Saturday afternoon, Volusia County Sheriff’s Department Officer Cameron Tucker and his wife, Justine, were eating an early dinner at the Zaxby’s restaurant in Deland, Florida. It was just a regular day and a regular dinner, until a young man approached the couple. That young man was named Juan, who is an African American college student. He asked the police officer if he could pray over him, to keep him protected. Cameron and his wife were surprised by this, but certainly accepting of the young man’s offer. With that, Juan put his hand on Cameron’s shoulder and prayed for his safety in his dangerous profession. Justine posted about it on her page, saying: “After crying my eyes out, we got to have an amazing conversation with this gentleman. He was on fire for God and you could feel His presence in the room. He said that he felt compelled to talk to us and to pray over Cameron.” Juan plays football at Stetson University right there in Deland and he’s a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. When he was in high school, he graduated with honors. The photo taken of Juan praying over the officer, which was taken by Justine, has been shared more than 25,000 times, with many, many comments. Juan’s grandmother, Berta O’Neil, was extremely proud of her grandson in doing what he did in that photo. It showed just how powerful a young person’s actions can be. And ever since Juan prayed over Cameron, the two have kept in regular touch.

Late last night Myles went on & on about how he had to be twins with a boy in his class for Twin Day because they look exactly the same- same eyes, same hair.

He was adamant that they were identical.
So after the kids went to bed I headed to Walmart at 9pm to get matching outfits.

Their teacher sent me this picture today.
My heart melted.

Obviously two very different children, but Myles didn’t see that.

Wouldn’t the world be such a better place if we could all view it through the eyes of a couple 5yr olds♥️

You may look at this picture and see a caring granddaughter comforting her beloved grandfather as he lies in a weakened state in a hospital bed.

The truth is that this woman is a police officer and she met Bob only two years ago while she was on duty. Lawrenceville Police Department Officer Dena Walker Pauly's life was changed forever when she was dispatched to a local pawn shop, where staff were unsure how to help him.

Life has not been kind to Bob. He's been on his own since he was a child and has no known family. He was homeless most of his life and a stroke eventually left him non-verbal. His life is a series of sad stories strung together by poverty and loneliness.

My sweet friend arrived at the pawn shop and was also unsure how to assist Bob, but she sensed he needed help and offered to take him home so he could show her what he needed. She was horrified when she saw Bob's living conditions.

My blue sister may have been dispatched that day by police radio, but I have no doubt she was really sent by God. She immediately addressed Bob's deplorable living conditions and taught him basic skills such as throwing garbage in the trash can rather than the floor. She's ensured he has food to eat and routinely cleans his small apartment.

She eventually sought and received a Power of Attorney for Bob's medical care. He's been in the hospital since May and today was an important day for Bob and Dena.

I spent my lunch hour at Eastside Medical Center as Dena made the difficult decision to begin hospice care for Bob. She held his hand and told him many times that she loved him. It's quite possible she's the first person to ever utter those words to this poor man.

We held Bob's hands and prayed with him today. We wanted to make sure he knows how much God loves him and how many people care about him.

I've never been more proud of any friend than I was today of Dena Walker Pauly. It's hard for her to say goodbye to Bob. I told him he's changed her life forever because I know it's true. She told me last week it really bothers her to think of Bob being discarded after he passes, so I reached out to Tom M Wages Funeral Service and Tommy Wages didn't hesitate to offer their services. Dena takes great comfort knowing she can keep Bob with her once he's gone. Thank you so much for that gift, Tommy.

As sad as it is to say goodbye, I can't wait for Bob to get his first glimpse of Heaven because his life on earth has been so hard. Please keep Bob and Dena in your prayers in the coming days as we trust God to do what's best for Bob.

Please also remember to pray for cops. This photo depicts the true nature of law enforcement officers. We are drawn to this profession because we care. We care so deeply that it hurts sometimes. We see the worst, but sometimes we also get to see the best. And we have opportunities to truly make a difference for people. Like Bob."

"I had been on assignment at a Detroit Montessori school for two days, and shot hundreds of photos. Some were very good, but I knew I hadn't gotten THE shot. That afternoon, as we all sat on the floor in a circle listening to a story, I bowed my head. When I raised my head, this little girl leaned over to lay her head on the little boy's lap. He very gently lifted his arm to receive her. I call this photo 'The Age of Innocence."
