We successfully climbed Mount Shasta, 14,179 feet (4322 meters)!!! And we honestly did not think we’d make it…
It had been years since we had climbed a more serious mountain. Health, and the pandemic had gotten in the way. We didn’t know if we still had it in us. The night before we kept trying to talk ourselves out of this stupid thing we were about to attempt. But alas in the early morning, we set off to make a summit attempt. The weather was terrible, mostly white out conditions, but we pushed along. We had rocks falling at points, one the size of a grapefruit even hit Alex’s ice axe, just barely missing his legs, but we kept going. We saw several groups turn around, but there was one group ahead of us that we couldn’t see in the white out conditions, but we could hear, so we pushed along. It gave us that little bit of assurance that we were not the only crazy ones! It was tough and steep at points, but we made it!
We will have a new YouTube video on our channel on Thursday documenting this journey!
