Hon. Puot Kang Chol ,quoted today in Court

Your lordship!. Am before this honorable court not because I have committed any of the cited offenses, but I’m here because I have refused to be a tool for destructions and a betrayer of a community I come from, my party SPLM IO and my leader Dr. Machar Teny Dhurgon.

Hon Puot Kang Chol continues
Your lordship, I would like to affirm that, if being a Nuer is a crime. Then we are all Nuer, and we should be ready to face whatever comes with it!.

Activist Criticizes Kiir’s Foreign Visits, Country Missed Important Diplomatic & Developmental Opportunities

May 13, 2026 | South Sudan, Juba | South Sudan Patriotic Voices

Outspoken Human Right Activist Ter Manyang Gatwech has questioned the value of President Salva Kiir’s recent trips to Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Uganda, asking what direct benefit they bring to ordinary South Sudanese.

While 40+ leaders gathered in Nairobi for the 3-day Africa Forward Summit to discuss youth, innovation, peace, and regional cooperation, Kiir did not attend.
Our President only attended the swearing-in of Djibouti’s President Guelleh and Uganda’s President Museveni which benefits him as leader.
Public South Sudanese point to better services, stability, and infrastructure in Djibouti and Uganda, while they face economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and poor healthcare at home.
Citizens doubt whether the government prioritizes development and welfare over symbolic political appearances. They also question the quality of advice Kiir receives on regional and global engagement.

Many feel South Sudan is missing chances to improve lives. The call is for leadership to focus on national interests and urgent needs rather than visits with little visible impact.

Announcement of Targeted Visa Restrictions for Individuals Involved in Undermining Peace in South Sudan

The transitional government of South Sudan has, for years, impeded implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS), signed during President Trump’s first term, leaving the country on the brink of a return to all-out war. Numerous well-respected investigative bodies have documented how corrupt officials and entities, including Crawford Capital, Ltd., have siphoned money from South Sudan’s treasury and stolen foreign assistance funds intended to support the South Sudanese people. The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), controlled by President Salva Kiir, has conducted a military offensive in northern Jonglei State that has displaced 300,000 people and created the conditions for a potential famine in large parts of South Sudan. There have also been credible reports of human rights violations and abuses and ethnically motivated killings of the Nuer people.

Today, pursuant to authority under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, Secretary Rubio is taking steps to impose visa restrictions on members of South Sudan’s transitional government. These individuals have undermined peace in South Sudan, including by impeding the ceasefire agreement and engaging in corruption that has fueled the conflict.

The United States will continue to stand with the South Sudanese people, who want to live in peace and dignity. We will continue to use all tools available to expose and promote accountability for members of the transitional government, SSPDF officials, and other individuals who steal from the South Sudanese people and threaten peace.

To the people of South Sudan, President Trump's message to President Kiir to release Riek Machar has failed, and as a result, Kiir is set to step down. Kiir's trip to Djibouti, mistakenly thought to be for an inauguration, is actually to meet with African Union and IGAD members to counter the American pressure. He will then head to Burundi for the C5 agreement, followed by a meeting with Uganda's President Museveni to discuss handling the American document, as Kiir has bribed African Union, IGAD, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, and other countries with money to ignore the peace message and instead maintain Riek Machar's arrest, thereby defending Kiir's crimes.

Sovereignty Means Responsibility, Not Becoming a Burden to the World

All countries in the world depend on each other. No nation survives completely on its own. Even the US-Israel-Iran war has already cost the world trillions of dollars, shifted global alliances, disrupted economies, and affected ordinary people everywhere, including in South Sudan.

The man-made crisis in South Sudan under the Kiir regime has also cost the world heavily for more than a decade through humanitarian aid, refugee support, peacekeeping missions, and regional instability. This situation cannot continue forever. If Kiir is the main obstacle to peace, then he must go.

South Sudan depends on Uganda for military support and Kenya for financial access and business channels. If those doors were suddenly shut, would the country survive on its own? That is the reality many people do not want to admit.

Sovereignty is not a shield for failed leadership. Sovereignty only works when leaders govern responsibly, protect their citizens, build institutions, and contribute positively to the region and the world. A government that cannot feed its people, maintain peace, or manage public resources responsibly cannot keep demanding respect while creating endless suffering and dependency.

The world eventually loses patience with leaders who turn their countries into permanent humanitarian projects. Nations are respected when they stand on responsibility, accountability, and good governance, not on slogans while their citizens continue to suffer.

How South Sudanese Pension Funds Were Emptied While Citizens Were Left With Nothing

Remember the 1,000 tractors that were said to have been donated by Salva Kiir Mayardit for the purpose of boosting agricultural production? Well, those tractors were completely mismanaged, and the president in whose name they were brought never held anybody accountable. In the end, the whole purpose was never achieved.

The money used to buy those tractors came from one of the pension funds, and at some point, the Ministry of Finance also borrowed money from the pension funds to pay salaries. So, as we speak, from 2011 to date, President Kiir and the Ministry of Finance owe citizens pension money amounting to about 1.2 billion USD.

Imagine working your entire life only to retire and discover that your pension money was misused, stolen, or wasted while those responsible continue living comfortably without accountability.

Papers, documents, and more information related to this matter will be published soon.

Public opinion on the ongoing court trial involving First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and other SPLM/A-IO officials has sharply divided South Sudanese into different groups:
1. Some South Sudanese believe the court case is merely a delay tactic by the SPLMs ( SPLM-IG, SPLM-IO and SPLM- FD) parties.
2. Others believe the trial is an opportunity to deliver justice for families who lost loved ones in conflicts involving forces allied to Dr. Riek Machar and Dr John Garang and the one led by the President Salva Kiir during disputes between the SPLM factions from 1991 to the present.
3. Another group views the ongoing trial as a conflict between the Dinka and Nuer communities.
4. The final group believes that lasting peace in South Sudan can only come if the Dinka and Nuer continue fighting until one side is completely defeated.

What are your thoughts on these different perspectives?
