(Indeed,we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return)
With heavy hearts,we join the people of Iran and millions across the world in mourning the passing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose death was reported following a joint airstrike involving Israel and the United States. His departure marks the end of an era that shaped Iran’s modern political, religious, and strategic identity.
Born in 1939 in Mashhad,Ayatollah Khamenei devoted his entire life to Islamic scholarship, revolutionary struggle, and national leadership. After the 1979 Islamic Revolution,he rose steadily through the ranks of service, later becoming President of Iran before assuming the position of Supreme Leader in 1989.For more than three decades,he stood as the highest authority in Iran, politically, militarily, and spiritually.
Throughout his long leadership,Ayatollah Khamenei was known for his firm stance on national sovereignty, resistance to foreign domination, and commitment to Islamic values. To his supporters,he was a symbol of resilience, independence, and continuity after the era of Imam Khomeini.Under his guidance,Iran navigated wars, sanctions, regional conflicts, and international pressure while maintaining its ideological path.
As a religious leader,he was deeply rooted in Shi’a Islamic teachings, emphasizing discipline, sacrifice, and loyalty to faith. As a statesman,he influenced generations of policymakers, scholars, and movements within Iran and beyond its borders. His words, decisions, and vision left an indelible mark on Middle Eastern geopolitics and global discussions on power, resistance, and identity.
In honour of his passing, the Islamic Republic of Iran has declared seven days of national mourning, followed by forty days of religious and cultural rites,in line with Islamic and Shi’a traditions. During this period, prayers, reflections, and commemorations will be held to honour his memory and contributions.
The death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is not only the loss of a leader but a historic turning point for Iran and the wider world.Whether admired or debated, his influence cannot be denied. His life remains a testament to unwavering belief, long service, and steadfast leadership during some of the most challenging times in modern history.
We extend our deepest condolences to the people of Iran, his family, and all who mourn his passing.
May Allah grant him mercy, forgive his shortcomings, and grant patience to those he leaves behind.
May his legacy be remembered, and may peace prevail.
