Dear Hon. Nokia,Abua Ngimoi,Long’echel.

Greetings from home. Things have become very difficult here since you moved to the National Government under President Ruto. Life has worsened, and more than three thousand workers are now living in debt.

Even the County Secretary, Mr. Eripete, is said to be on retement , and we now have an ambassador as County Secretary. Our ODM party in Turkana is currently in the hands of brokers. Many of the projects you left behind remain incomplete — they have now become white elephants.

As we speak, Turkana no longer has a strong political leader or kingpin. The opposition has joined the government side. We are therefore demanding, respectfully but firmly, that you come back and help reorganize our county.

Even Tobong Loree has lost its meaning since what happened to Baba (Raila Odinga). From that time, everything changed — and those who planned confusion during Tobong Loree caused great division.

Today, Turkana’s borders are full of insecurity; there is no more peace between us and our neighbors — West Pokot, Samburu, and T’donyang. Many people are migrating from rural areas to urban centers. Women and the elderly have now become our security guards.

During your time as Governor of Turkana, you focused on peace, development, and employment. Many youths had jobs, even casual ones, with the county. But today, even casual work depends on connections — “who you know.”

It is time for you to rethink and help save Turkana County once again. We need leadership that truly cares for the people.

who is : Josephat Koli Nanok (often written Josphat Nanok Aka Abua ngimoe Longechel king maker

Education & early career: He studied Political Science & History at the University of Nairobi and later earned an MBA (Strathmore University). Before elective politics he worked in the NGO / humanitarian sector with organisations such as WFP and Oxfam (roles in Kenya, South Sudan and Eritrea).
Political career — timeline & offices
Member of Parliament (Turkana South) — first elected in 2007 (Orange Democratic Movement/ODM).
Assistant Minister for Forestry & Wildlife — served in the national government after 2007 (part of Government of National Accord arrangements).
First Governor of Turkana County (2013–2022) — elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017; led the county through the first two terms of devolved government.
Chair, Council of Governors (CoG) — served as CoG chair (raising his national profile among county leaders).
After governorship: Appointed to a senior role at State House (deputy chief of staff / State House aide) after leaving the governor’s office.
Key achievements & contributions
Built county-level infrastructure and public services — during his two terms the county recorded investments in early childhood education, basic health facilities, roads and trade infrastructure that local and national media and profiles attribute to his administration’s priorities. These projects helped lay the “infrastructural foundation” for further development in Turkana.
Improved county ranking / recognition under devolution — independent county-performance research cited Turkana among the more improved devolved counties in some reports/assessments while he was in office (used in local coverage of his record). This is commonly referenced when supporters describe an “economic transformation” under his leadership.
National leadership role for counties — as CoG chair he represented county governments in national and international fora (for example leading delegations, engaging diaspora investment discussions, and representing counties’ interests). That role increased Turkana’s visibility and gave him leverage in national intergovernmental negotiations.
Leveraging humanitarian experience — his previous WFP/Oxfam work meant he had experience with food security and emergency response that influenced county policy (he often framed county drought responses and food security programs through

Strengths: Nanok put Turkana firmly on the map of devolved counties, chaired the Council of Governors (giving the county national clout), pushed infrastructure and institutional projects, and used his humanitarian background to shape programs. Multiple national news outlets reported he raised Turkana’s profile and achieved

The donkey remains a key player in the pastoral economy, supporting livelihoods and easing transportation for many families. To protect these vital animals, with support from The Brooke East Africa we conducted an awareness session in Kakuma, Turkana County, educating the community on donkey welfare and the dangers of theft and illegal slaughter.

📞 Report Slaughter, Abuse, and Theft (SAT)!
We shared the Donkey Welfare Call Centre Toll-Free Number 0800000890 to ensure swift action against any harm to our donkeys.
