アオタテハモドキ
学名：Junonia orithya
■アオタテハモドキってどんな蝶？
羽を広げた時の模様が黒色と鮮やかな青色のとても美しい南国の蝶です。
メスは青色模様が入らないタイプの方が多いですが、それでも眼状紋がとても美しく南国感のあるチョウチョです。
羽を閉じると地味めな茶色をしているので、羽を開閉した時のコントラストも楽しめます。
英語では「blue pansy（ブルーパンジー）」と呼ばれることもあります。
■アオタテハモドキの分布や生息地
日本では南西諸島で見られる蝶です。
沖縄島より南部では確実に土着されたと言われていますが、それより北では定着と消滅を繰り返して完全には定着していないようです。
しかし、よく飛ぶようで迷チョウとして九州などでも観察されますし、遠いところだと関東で見つかった例もあります。

It's a very beautiful tropical butterfly with a pattern of black and vibrant blue when its wings are spread.
Females often lack the blue pattern, but even so, their eyespots are very beautiful, giving them a distinctly tropical feel.
When their wings are closed, they are a rather plain brown, so you can enjoy the contrast when their wings are open and closed.
In English, it is sometimes called the "blue pansy."
■Distribution and habitat of the Junonia orithya
In Japan, this butterfly can be found in the southwestern islands.
It is said to be firmly established south of Okinawa Island, but further north, it seems to have gone through cycles of establishment and extinction, and is not completely established.
However, it seems to fly well and is observed as a vagrant butterfly in Kyushu and other areas, and there have even been cases of it being found as far away as the Kanto region.
