Japan's Convenience Store Experience.
I came to Japan as a Student Visa holder. Working in a Convenience Store is one of the most common job for student. So, it was my 3rd time working in the store and its happens that Im working with the Japanese Lady who was so confident that i already learned all the things in the store, which i know that she didnt knew that I don't. So, She left me in the register(レジ)and she went to the Fridge to put the bottled drinks since it is one of the things to be done during that shift. Since I am the only one who did the register, costumers are filling up and got a long line.
I remembered that there is a button just below the table for calling the staff for reinforcement. So I push the button without checking it. I wondered why the Japanese Staff didn't came so i pushed the button for many times. The Phone rangs!! but i didnt answer the call because I know i cant speak Japanese very well and im so pressured since costumers are lining up so long already.. 5mins later the 9-10 POLICE Officers came, i really dont understand why Police came to the store. Then one of them ask me "Nani ga arimasu ka?naze yobimasuka?" (what happened, why did you call us?) And I was like😱😱😱😱😱😱.
Unfortunately, I PUSHED THE WRONG BUTTON, it was the button for calling the POLICE!! the call that i was ignoring was from the Police who wants to confirm what was the call is all about, and i didnt pick it up since im afraid to talk in Japanese!
Since the Police came to the store and they need to report it, they asked for my name and wrote it in their report form! I was so embarassed, and the Japanese Lady staff just smiled and dont even defend me about what happen..
Lesson learned, You should check what button you need to push to avoid mistakes..
