This was shot outdoors with just sunlight, jpg only on a 15 yr old cropped sensor camera. If it was shot with my current equipment and in raw format of course it would be technically better. But technically a camera only records light. We set it what to record. It does not make creative decisions for us. I wanted to show that art can be made with old minimal gear and production.

I remember when I got the opportunity to work with this amazing talent .a.dances . Back then I was somewhat new to photographing dancers, and I only shot jpg. For years I wish I did a better job, because Alicia was that vibrant dancer with beautiful technique, and I wish I did her justice.

Years later I see this image differently. I don't judge it as harshly anymore. It's also a beautiful reminder of my commitment to improving craft, and of the growth since then.
