It exposes our greatest insecurities, brings us face to face with our deepest fears and leads us into utter dependence on the love we have for each other and the faith we have in the Lord. I often think about the moments of life that draw us into a deeper understanding of the heart of God. What great joy and delight He takes in His Son and by extension, those whom have been called His sons and daughters through the work of the Christ.

Becoming a parent gives us a glimpse of the delight that God has in His children that only grows and magnifies with each new addition. What a deep and profound joy it is to welcome a new life into the world and to call them your own child.

Starting a family is one of the most exciting and terrifying times in life. The happy thoughts about first cuddles, tiny toes and little yawns find themselves tangled in a web of doubts and fears about our own ability to care for another life.

The call to parenting is one of immense bravery. It’s rarely natural or easy. The days are infinitely long and somehow also infinitesimally short. Always tired. Behind on chores and to-do lists. Some days the only thing we accomplish is we kept the little humans alive while completely forgetting to feed ourselves. But here’s the truth: it’s all worth it.

Becoming a parent is one of the rare and glorious glimpses we get into better understanding the love God has for us, His own children. It is a beautiful and brave calling.

Story time: My wife and I fell in love in high school. We made many mistakes that almost jeopardized our future together but it was our faith that pulled us back together and drew us into the loving arms of a God that redeems broken things. 12 years and 3 beautiful babies later, we couldn’t be more blessed for the life God had planned for us all those years ago.

I couldn’t be more proud of this young couple and their beautiful relationship that has been built on the firm foundation of Christ and it was a joy and privilege to capture these beautiful moments in their closing chapter of high school.
