In March 2015, I cycled out of Tokyo and headed west in the direction of England. I arrived in London in June 2016, the day before the Brexit vote.
I saw a lot of road kill during that 15 months but none more so than in Central Asia. It struck me as a senseless slaughter.
In Western China I began photographing the dead animals I encountered and continued doing so through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Some of those images have been collected into this little book.
As a way of deriving something positive from the experience, I pledge to donate 100 yen to the World Wildlife Fund for each book sold. To purchase a copy, click here.

2015年3月、私は自転車で東京を出発し、イギリスを目指して西へ向かった。ロンドンに到着したのは、2016年6月。ちょうど、イギリスがEUからの独立を決めるBrexit投票の前日であった。
15ヶ月という長い旅路の中で、私は多くのロードキル（道端に倒れる動物の死骸）に遭遇した。中でも、私が最も多くその光景を目にしたのは中央アジア。私の目に、それは意味のない虐殺として映った。
遭遇した動物の死骸は中国西部で撮影し始め、カザフスタン、キルギスタン、タジキスタン、ウズベキスタンとその旅の道中、死骸を見つけてはiPhoneに収め続けた。
この小さな本の中には、私が特にインスピレーションを感じた写真が集められている。
私の使命は、この旅の経験をより多くの読者の皆様へ伝えることです。
