The final part of the journey brought us to the legendary Paro Taktsang. The 5-hour hike was challenging yet deeply rewarding and worth all the effort. Between the crisp mountain air and the fluttering prayer flags, every step reveals a different side of Paro Valley’s beauty.

It all builds toward that final, breathless reveal of the monastery clinging to the cliff of the Tiger‘s Nest, the very spot where Guru Rinpoche is said to have arrived on a flying tigress to bring Buddhism to the kingdom.

The most memorable meal of the entire journey was the bespoke rice terrace dinner at Six Senses Punakha. The experience started with making your own Bhutanese chili paste, followed by a tasting menu of 14 regional staples inspired by Nobgang village in Punakha. From the ginger-laced Jasha Maru to the vibrant Hoentsey Datse cheese spinach, every dish offered a true taste of the locality.
